http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-c16384 Lloris’ move to Tottenham, and said that the player shouldn’t have joined the club without speaking to manager Andre Villas-Boas first.
Lloris was the subject of a high profile deadline day move to the North London club from French outfit Lyon. The player had been identified as a high priority target for Villas-Boas, who had eyed him as the long term replacement for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brad-Friedel-c7953.
After much speculation and delays, the transfer saga came to a close in the final hours of the transfer window when Lloris finally completed his move to White Hart Lane.
Lloris’ arrival was marked by much debate and discussion, as many expected him to be thrust into the Spurs first team set up immediately.
However, this was not the case. The player had to make do with a spot on the bench as Friedel’s impressive form in goal kept Lloris out of the first team.
The 25-year old has only made one Premier League appearance for Spurs, among a number of appearances in the League Cup and the Europa League.
This development led to rumours that claimed the player was unhappy with his role at the club, and put his international career in doubt. The lack of playing time has concerned Lloris’ national team coach Deschamps, who had been sceptical of the move from
day one.
Speaking to reporters, Deschamps said:
“His situation appears to me to be incomprehensible. We are not talking about a young goalkeeper, but a guy who has been the France keeper for several years, who has played dozens of matches in the Champions League.”
Deschamps was however quick to assure Lloris’ status for the national team, and said that his role as France No.1 and skipper is not under any sort of jeopardy. He added:
“The English league had started when he signed in August. The really important thing is that a player speaks directly with his coach and if Hugo had done that, maybe he would have signed for Tottenham. But as for the French team, he is not in danger."
