  1. In both cases, the key was delegating the problem to someone who could handle it. But you are going to need something much more in depth that than.

    Problem solving: Identifying key issues, identifying desired outcome, identifying who has the required skills and knowledge, identifying resources required, then taking action to bring all those together.

    When working as part of a team, it's critical to get input from everyone, partially so you can do all the items above, and to get appropriate action from the right people to get the task accomplished. Listening is the critical skill when working with a team.


  2. This has to come from personal experience.  If you can't think of a time when you've had a difficult problem to solve, explain how you would go about solving a difficult problem.  Hiring authorities want to see that you can think through problems and solve effectively.   Same thing with the other question.  These are pretty standard and they are trying to assess your analytical and interpersonal skills.
