Describe in with as much detail what it is like to have diabetes.?

I want to know the answer from people who have been diagnosed. I want to know what your personal symptoms were.

What are the warning signs of Diabetes?                                                    

Excessive thirst

Frequent urination  

Hunger  

Unexplained weight loss or gain  

Flu like symptoms, including weakness and fatigue

Blurred vision Irritability    

Slow-healing cuts or bruises

Tingling or loss of feeling in hands or feet

Recurring infections of gum or skin  

Recurring vaginal or bladder infections

not personally, but my dad suffers. when you have it you cannot personally tell any differences in your body. when my dad hasn't eaten enough carbs or has eaten too many he acts like a completely different person and has no idea he's doing it. he often gets really sleepy and mumbles his words together. sometimes he even gets kinda scary. because he cannot tell the difference its hard to get him to understand when he needs to take him medication, cause he thinks he is fine when he isnt. Its a horrible disease.

I got it when I was six. It's not fun and you know immediately something's wrong! You get a really dry mouth and feel like unless you get some water you're going to uhm I don't know, do something really radical

I was 12 when i was diagnosed.

I'm 14 now.

I feel like the same person, just with more responsibility.

When your sugar is high, your really thirsty and pee alot and when your low you get irritable but its all good :D

my personal symptoms were. i was very extrmely tired. i was thirsty but not to the point of noticing it. i was  tired and that is what stoo dout now and i knew that someday iw oudl be since a doctor told me this in my early 20's but i didnt' think ofi t being now. i went to the doctor with being dizzy and high fever and feeling bad in general.he took blood work and foudn i was diabetic and gave methe meds and i am ok. i have been doing this since 95. no shots but keep it down so far with meds but stress from working brought levelsup so high it was scary when i retired it went to normal. so i have meds to take so far.

Mine were i lost a lot of wait in like 2 days had to go to the bathroom allot and drank water every 10 mine is had a bad temper and slepted

went to the docter he said my sugers was ove 750 i hade to stay in the hospital for 3 days and that was when i was 7

1. Extreme thirst-I drank a lot of water, milk, pop, juice, and kool aid.  A lot of times I would drink a glass of milk before I would even start to eat.  I would usually drink around 2 16oz glasses with every meal and I would put a big sports bottle full of water on my nightstand for the night.

2. Frequent urination- I'd go to the bathroom every hour a lot of times and I'd go 4-6 times during the night (between the hours of 11pm and 7am).  After I'd go to the bathroom at night, I'd go right to the fridge to drink some cold water.

3.Loss of appetite-I know extreme hunger is a symptom, but I don't remember ever having that.

4. Tiredness-I'd want to sleep all the time.  I could not get rid of the fatigue no matter how long I'd sleep.

5. Unexplained weightloss-I don't remember exactly when I started showing symptoms, but I know I had the symptoms for at least a month.  In that time I lost about 40lbs.

6. Blurred vision- I actually went to the eye doctor when this happened and I ended getting glasses.  After I was diagnosed, and my blood sugar was back to normal, my vision went back to normal and I didn't need the glasses.  That was the first and last time I went to that doctor.

My blood sugar was 630mg/dl when I was diagnosed and now I'm taking 4-6 shots a day.
