  1. Old World Monkeys have a dental formula of 2:1:2:3, whereas New World Monkeys have dental formulas of 2:1:3:3 or 2:1:3:2.

  2. There are many differences but since you asked for only one I chose the followilng:

The Dentition (organization of the teeth)  of old world monkeys is:

    2.1.2.3 (top) over 2.1.2.3 (bottom)

  4. New World monkeys have prehensile tails.

  5. No Old World monkeys have prehensile tails.  Some New world monkeys do.

  7. The New World's monkeys are the only ones to have prehensile tails.

  8. One characteristic that distinguishes new world and old world monkeys is the GULO gene.  This gene allows for the synthesis of ascorbic acid.  In new world monkeys the gene works fine, whereas in most old world species the gene is broken, as it is in humans.  This is why old world primates (including humans) must have vitamin c in their diets.
