  1. Hi, This looks very much like a question set by one of your teachers. Usually you would have been directed to research the topic or read the handout given to you and then answer the question. There have been a number of major bush fires in Australia over the past few decades. I recall those in Hobart, Canberra and Sydney. The Governments of the day would have implemented and used different strategies, sometimes for the genuine concern for people, other times for economic and commercial reasons, frequently for vote harvesting in the future, and most likely for all of those reasons. If you were not given any specific reading and research instructions, then choose any one of these bush fires. Read as much as you can about it and make notes as you go. Each note should be on a separate piece of paper. Each time there is mention made about what the Government of the day did, or promised to do in the future, about this problem write about this using your own words (do not just copy what was written).  At the end of your readings you should have built up a reasonable set of notes about the actions that the Government took. Put these notes into some logical, or chronological order and then write your description of what the Government did. Follow your teacher's instructions on how this should be done. Remember there are different ways of writing.  Writing can be as a report, a story, an essay, a set of instruction, a treatise, an analysis, a documentary, a critique, recommendation, or plan. A description expects you to state the details and facts without you having to analyse or make comment about the Government's response to bush fires. Just write about what the Government actually did or promised to do about this particular bush fire and any future preventative  measures which were to be introduced.

  2. They generally run away from them just like the rest of us.

  3. You need to specify which bushfires and which government.

Bushfire fighting/prevention is a State responsibility, so each State has its own methods and system of administration.

The Australian Government (Federal) would not normally have a response.

There are bushfires every year, and I assume you are asking about the response to one set of them that had problems.

Try these links for some examples of bushfires where the response was criticised:

  4. Let it burn, it will burn itself out when it hits the ocean.
