  1. A renewable source in one that, after using, will not be depleted and can be used again at a later date.  An example would be a waterfall: we can harness the water energy to turn a turbine, but the river will continue to flow.  Also, wind energy is renewable.

    A non-renewable source is one that can be expended over time through use (or any resource that is finite).  For example, oil will eventually run out, and when it's gone, it's gone.
