Inside the rib cage to the left of the sternum and above and behind the left lung.

The heart is located directly underneath the sternum (breast plate).  Although many people say it is positioned to the left of the plate this is not true.  It is located in the center but because the left side of the heart is more muscular it is larger on that side which makes it appear to be off center.  I hope I helped.
