    Each had a different form of government, and the social order was somewhat different in each. Voting was typically tied to a church.

    Generally, you'll find that each colony had government officials, clergy, free [white] men, with landowners a separate class from non-landowners; white bondsmen (indentured servants, apprentices, etc.), and slaves (African and Native Americans, men and women).

    In all white classes, women's place in the social order was significantly different from men's.
