  1. convex lens.

    concave lens.

    convex is the lens that goes out, like in a shopping centre with a camera behind it, because it can see a bigger surface area.

    convex = )

    concave lens bends in, and this can be used for a spotlight, which focuses on a single point.

    concave = (

  2. convex and concave

    convex lenses cause light rays to converge or come together because they are thicker in the middle than on the edges. Their design enables convex lenses to focus light and project an image. Also, things examined through a convex lens look bigger and brighter because the lens is capable of concentrating a beam of light on a surface. Concave lenses, on the other hand, are thicker on the edges than in the middle. Thus, they seem to cave in toward the center and things look smaller through them. Instead of concentrating light, concave lenses make light rays bend outward or diverge, spreading them across a surface.

  3. 2 basic types of lenses are concave lenses and convex lenses.

    in concave lenses, the side which receives the light ray is in the form of a cave, meaning [ )( ] and a convex mirror is in the form of a bulging structire on the side on which it receives the light ray [ () ].

    concave lens has a -ve focal length while a convex lens has a +ve focal length.

    lenses are used:

    1. to make spectacles

    2. to make microscopes

    3. to make telescopes

    4. to check wavelength of different colours of light
