trading is when you would trade s stock no more time than a year. When you invest in a stock you plan to hold on to it for many years if the fundamentals are good.

Dividends and capital gains

Lying and cheating.

Honest work pays less, but feels better.

So if a return is only from Dividends and capital gains, then if you never sell and don't recieve a dividend then you have no return.  Buying mutual funds in the growth sector do not have returns.
