  1. I have had three exchange students live with us at different times.

    1. Austria, France, Germany

    2. 2 weeks to 6 months

    3. 15, 16, 17

    4. Adjustments to living with with strangers (that goes both ways), adjustment to house rules, and homesickness.

    5. Two had bedrooms of their own (they stayed longer). The one girl was on a short exchange so she shared with my daughter, they were close in age. We were not required to provide a separate bedroom for them we just had a big enough house that it could be done.

    6. Getting to see American life close up. Staying in a hotel can never compare to living with a family and really seeing how life really is. Having time to discuss cultural differences, politics and all sorts of things that "tourists" just don't get.
