  1. He was tall.

    He had blonde hair.

    He was sort of skinny.

    He wore t-shirts.

    His voice was deep.

    Good sense of humor.

  2. My 8th-grade baseball coach had played college ball and really loved the game. From a coaching standpoint he worked really hard on the fundamentals and was always available before or after practice if we wanted extra help. He knew when to push us and when to give us encouragement, and most of all he treated everyone the same. He was our coach and we respected him, but he was also a lot of fun and he was the type of guy you really wanted to play hard for.

  3. He was encouraging; he didn't scream at the kids on the team. He laughed a lot. He taught the kids how to play, he didn't just criticize.  He told his players what they had done well and what they needed to improve. He was honest.  He like the kids.

  4. My favorite little league coach was actually the worst coach I ever had.  He was just a guy that was so odd he'd have you laughing all the time.  To start with he'd wear this Tampa Bay Buccaneers Starter jacket (the big heavy ones with the old school Bucs logo) to every game and practice.  This was in Kansas during the middle of summer when it can get to 100+ degrees.  He also had these weird little strategies to give us an advantage.  My favorite was the "tall-short-tall-short-tall short-tall-short-tall lineup."  He swore up and down that was the best lineup you could possibly have - even if it meant having our best hitter at the bottom of the lineup because he was too short to be the "tall" player hitting in the #3 or #5 spot.
