  1. anything that is not static (stationary) has velocity.

    the slang term is speed.

it is usually measured in a distance/time format.

    ie; ice-flow  12m/yr, car 88f/s or 60 mi/hr , sound 1100 f/s

  2. It is the rate of change of position.

  3. velocity is the rate of change of displacement.

  4. It would be good for you to have your definition and understanding in the terms used in the business" in physic talk.

Speed  and velocity are closely related, which is why people can confuse them. And in truth, the difference is generally only significantly important to the scientific and engineering types.

    Speed is a Scalar quantity.

    Velocity is a Vector quantity

    - Scalars are quantities which are fully described numerical value alone.

    - Vectors are quantities which are fully described by both numerical value and a direction.

Example: a woman is running forward with a speed of 5 mph or k/h (do not worry about units to much now)

A man is running backwards with a speed of 7 mph.

We could say her speed is 5 mph and velocity is +5 mph

We could say his speed is 7 mph and his velocity is -7 mph.

Another example is a car going through turn. The car maintains a constant speed, but because the car changes its direction, the velocity id changing.
