So, I have a laptop that has a plug-in for a desktop screen. The screen works fine until i plug it into the laptop (the screen goes to sleep) When its not plugged in of course, it says no signal, but then when I plug it in it just goes to sleep.

Is there something on my laptop I have to do?

Please help -- I wish to use this screen.

  1. There are usually settings in the display properties that you have to change to make it display on an external monitor or function keys on the keyboard to switch to external.  Check your manual if you have it, or download it from the internet.  Also, confirm the external monitor is working on a another machine if possible.

  2. its not set to except...i'm thinking it should be as simple as pressing fn+f4 (fn is next to the window key, ctrl, and alt) what that does is flip through the different viewing modes, so you might have to press it a couple times.
