Question:

Desperate Need Of Advice?

by  |  earlier

I need advice. I am currently $6,000 in debt and unemployed. My car broke down and I spent every last penny I had getting it fixed. Then on the way home from the shop, I got in an accident. Now I'm $6,000 in debt, and I have a car to pay for. But the part that's really bad is how do I get a job with no car to go to interviews, turn in resumes, etc? I have no idea what to do. I am in a real slump right now financially and emotionally. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  1. Are there friends or family who can let you borrow their car or drive you around town?  There has to be someone who can help!  If not, then I suggest picking up the bus/public transportation schedule and figuring out how to get where you need to go. Where there's a will there's a way.  You will feel much better when you're out there hitting the pavement than when you're sitting home depressed...trust me.  Good luck to you.

  2. ~~You must feel you are in a hopeless vacuum right now, and I am so sorry for your run of bad luck. The ideas you have been givien of borrowing a car or borrowing money are options-which you must not be able to do or you would have already. There are usually church's, settlement houses, (do you qualify for Unemployment benefits?) that can help you out if you explain your situation. If you can't get help with any of these, try applying to easy to get jobs (fast food, Starbucks's, etc.) which you can start the process online. You will have to rely on public transportation or walking. Once you start making something of an income, you can keep trying to better your situation and look for better employment. Another idea is if you know a neighbor or someone who has a car not often used, maybe you could do yard work or offer to change the oil, etc. something you can do to exchange the use of the car for quick trips to interviews. Just good to be creative. Money also may be available all around you by offering to do yardwork, car washing, dog walking, whatever you can think of. Just keep filling your  pockets and things keep getting easier. Don't give up-you will make it through this and then you can help someone else down the line with the knowledge you gained from this tough time. I think their are millions of people in your shoes right now! I wish you all the best and great success!!!~~

  3. You've made a good start by recognizing that you have a problem and that one solution to that problem is to get a job. The next part of the solution is to learn to live on what you earn and stay out of debt.

To find a job either walk or take public transportation to nearby business locations. If you really want a job, you can find one.

  4. OMG! i'm so sorry!!!!  i'm praying for you!!!! good luck!

  5. As you work through this problem keep reminding yourself that one day (a long time from now) you will look back at this time of your life and you will be proud of yourself for getting through it.

  6. Look for a job as close to home as possible. Walking distance, bike riding distance or bus riding distance. You need a job to pay off that debt.  It may be hard to do but you need a job to 1st get that car fixed and then pay off that debt. Good Luck!!

  7. Doesn't your insurance cover the accident? Ask a friend or relative. Apparently you have internet send your resumes on-line get a job within walking distance.

  8. Do you believe in GOD? Because if so, you need just give it all to him and your faith will get you thru it!

I am so very sorry you are so down right now! TRUST ME, I understand that feeling of falling deeper and deeper into the whole! And God was the one who saved me!

How bad is the damage to the car? is it undrivable or just bad looking? $6000 is a lot of money but really it isnt that much dept! You will see in time that it can and will work out with dedication.

go to your state gov website! Check for carreer opps they have! They have  jobs that you don't need college for. such as Correctional Officers, Reception workers, Janitorals, Game Wardens! Anything state related and there are plenty of opportunities to get a job! I hope you find something soon! These jobs you usually have to test for and it takes a while to get put in them but they are great paying jobs with great benifits!!!!!

HOpe that helps some! and GOOD LUCK!

  9. Okay, my parents  have absolutely no money with four kids this is what i recommend...........when you need food if you go to a church then they might have a room to supply needier people with, food, clothes, e.t.c (mine does), and as for the job interviews call up an old friend and ask them to take you, and last but most certainly not least put all of your faith in the lord and he will take care of you!!!! I'm so sorrry!!!! : (
