I had a major drinking problem got dwi#2 with child endangerment got probation, didn't change my ways cps took my son. straightened up got my son back but in the meantime violated probation because i was traveling to different counties and didn't have transportation to get where i needed and struggled to comply with cps. i had to get my son back, i have been sober for 2 years and have the most amazing bond with my family, it's unreal and i never thought in a million years i could be where i am at today but i have all that hanging over my head and worked so hard to get my son home i couldn't do both i can't imagine being away from my son ever again, my heart literally breaks thinking of that. would a judge listen to my story or am i just a threat to society? i changed my ways in every way and can't find the words to explain it . i don't know what to do

i would do whatever it took to face this problem and stay a mother to my child, i couldn't imagine how he would feel without me since we have bonded so much, he is my life, my everything i am devastated

any advice please, i know i made my own bed, i had some serious growing up to do and did

  1. I didn't really understand your question.  Do you have your son?  What do you mean traveling to different counties?  Have you violated the terms of your having your son?  Have you violated the terms of probation?  I just don't know what  you have done now that is worrying you.  Please explain.

  2. Explain this to a lawyer and he will take care of all the legalities.  As long as you show proof of what you have been doing that made you violate probation, the lawyer can reach an understanding with the court

  3. A judge will definitely listen to your plea.  Hopefully, you have some people who can testify to your 2 years of sobriety, an AA sponsor, etc. who can back up the fact that you have grown up.  In foster care cases, reunification is always the number one priority, even in cases of physical and, sad to say, even sexual abuse.  I've worked in the foster care system, and I have seen children go home to parents who have committed far greater offenses than you have.  Just continue to stay away from the liquor.  You can't tell yourself that you can have "one little drink" or that it isn't a big deal.  If you don't get your son back at this hearing, don't get devastated and go get drunk, your rights won't be terminated, you'll get another day in court, and you need to show that you have improved even more.  Accept that your drinking days are over for good, no exceptions, not a drop.  The stakes are too high.

  4. AA

  5. I am sure a judge will recognize progress if there is some, but will keep you on a short leash more then a while longer. Addicts almost always relapse, and you didn't mention you are in any program at all for support.

  6. sounds as though you should get with your parole officer, if thats an option. Character witnesses might be helpful . . . i'm sure you have a court date in the near future with cps, or you are able to petition the court. . . . .i guess what i dont understand is that if you couldnt make it somewhere, why not call and try to reset the time, or being that your so tight with your family why they couldnt give you a ride. there had to be alternatives
