Desperate for win, Philadelphia Eagles host Dallas Cowboys – NFL Week 10 Preview
Presently on a four-game losing streak, Philadelphia Eagles are gearing up to host National Football Conference (NFC) East rivals Dallas Cowboys in Week 10 game, outcome which can further dent the already bleak prospects of one of these teams.
The game will be played at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, November 11. Cowboys and Eagles share the same story as far as missing opportunities in this season is concerned. Both teams have dwindled down in the division, crushing all the expectations and
hype that were built during the course of a few months before the start of the 2012 season.
At present, both teams are 3-5 each and share second spot in NFC East, which is led by defending Super Bowl champions New York Giants with 6-3 record that is much better than other NFC East teams.
Cowboys and Eagles are also dealing with the same offensive woes. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has not been able to display better performance this season and has failed a number of times, even in front of seemingly less threatening defences.
The same is the case with Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, who has been inconsistent and inaccurate right from the first game of the season.
So it is hard to predict who could dominate who on the game day. However, Cowboys have a slight upper hand against Eagles because they have a solid defence.
Cowboys do not allow their opponents to pass the ball or rush with it. This is the strength that Eagles lack and their offence is certainly going to face some tough time on the field while it attempts to penetrate the Cowboys defence.
Cowboys can further solidify their advantage if Romo plays well and the offence performs better near the end zone.
Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett thinks that his offence needs to be better at throwing the ball, catching it and then running with it. He does not want the quarterback to look for his receivers down the field and send long passes. He said:
“A ton of the big plays are made by guys throwing the ball way down field, but there are a lot of plays made by guys throwing the ball from me to you and breaking a tackle and making a big run. That’s a big part of our game and we need to be better at that
at the receiver position, we need to be better at that at the tight end position and the running back position.”
Meanwhile, Eagles head coach Andy Reid believes that one good game can turn things around for his team. Asserting that even one win can help the team change its course, Reid said:
“We’ve got to focus in on the Dallas Cowboys and make sure we get ourselves right for that game.”
