Despite 6lb higher, Desolait having bright chance in Newton Abbot On Course Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ 7-year-old skilful mare, Desolait, was super impressive on her previous three starts. Winning two of last three shows how good rhythm she is currently in.
Although The Hollow Partnership-owned is running at Newton Abbot for the very first time, her chances are a lot better than a few others. Denying a 6lb rise is unlikely to be a tough task for her in the Newton Abbot On Course Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle,
to be held on Monday, October 1st.
Desolait made a terrible seasonal debut at the start of June, when suffering an embarrassing defeat in the Weatherbys Bloodstock Insurance Handicap Hurdle at Cartmel. An awful start to the 2012 campaign would have shaken her confidence to some extent.
But the dashing mare quickly put things in order. Only a couple of weeks after a shameful loss, the maverick runner returned strongly to register her first win of the season at Hexham in late June.
It was a comprehensive win for Desolait, who sealed the first rank by one and a half lengths in the Bet On Euro 2012 At totepool.com Handicap Hurdle. She perpetuated her fine work to run very nicely at Uttoxeter, but found one too strong. As a result, she
could only secure the second spot in the Bet365 Mares' Handicap Hurdle.
Bred by Mrs Susan Orton, the daughter of Erhaab achieved another milestone in late July, when finishing on top of the chart in McGuinness Feeds TBA Mares' Handicap Hurdle at Cartmel.
After three straight good performances, the 7-year-old is in awesome rhythm. Therefore, she seems to have every chance of beginning her Newton Abbot campaign with a huge bang.
There are 10 other contestants in the line-up for the 2-mile 3-furlong event. On a soft surface, the participants will pursue a cash prize worth £2,924. The party will be begun at 16:00 GMT.
Cardigan Island is making hurdling debut, and can surprise a few today. Similarly, Rime Avec Gentil has two or three things in favour. Bernard Llewellyn’s trainee was solid second on soft ground off the same mark here last time. We wish the best of luck
to all the horses.
