Despite Curtis Granderson’s poor performance in ALCS, Yankees GM showing support – MLB Update
New York Yankees struggled in American League Championship Series as now the critics are speculating different theories regarding all the players who did not perform well.
Recently some news published in local newspaper that Yankees might trade some of their key players who did not show any impressive performance in ALCS or in entire post-season.
Curtis Granderson’s name also came on that listing that could not much to save the Yankees from 4-0 humiliation from the Detroit Tigers and Yankees trade him to another team.
However, as soon as news or somewhat speculation came out in the media, the Yankees' general manager Brian Cashman rejected all those speculation and showed his support for eight-year Major League veteran.
“To get 43 home runs from a center fielder isn’t easy, And I don’t think one series erases that,” Cashman said and explained why Yankees star centre fielder is a great player and why he will a great asset for the New York Yankees.
Granderson is known for his hitting and home-runs as Cashman is right that it will be not fair if you expect from a centre fielder that he will hit home-runs every time.
The Yankees’ GM also highlighted that Granderson’s this year’s performance in regular season has been a success itself. He smashed 43 home-runs which is not easy at all for any centre fielder to achieve.
“He started to struggle in situations where [his] swings and misses become more glaring than usual, I think Curtis can take something out of this: ‘Where was my head at?’ And ‘Was I confident enough? ‘There might have been a little bit of self-doubt that I saw,” Yankees' hitting coach Kevin Long said.
Though Granderson has played very well in the regular season, but many still believe that the Yankees could have done better if he would have played well.
He finished 2012 outing achieving .232 hitting average along with 43 homers, 106 RBIs and .319 OBP.
On the other hand, his career hitting of .262 along with 210 home-runs, 591 RBIs and .341 OBP also shows his great consistency on the plate.
