Despite Test win against Australia, SA has lot to improve, feels Jacques Rudolph – Cricket News Update
South Africa’s opening Test batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jacques-Rudolph-c1619, has asked his teammates to keep their feet on the ground, elucidating that despite a comfortable win in the first Test, the side has many issues to address.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746’s second innings, where the Kangaroos crumbled for just 47 runs.
Although, the Proteas performed magnificently in the second half of the match and overwhelmed Australia’s target of 236 comprehensively, their show in the first innings was not much impressive. Rudolph and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Smith-c90598 were the only two players to cross double
figures when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 collapsed on paltry a 96.
Rudolph pointed out that the Aussies have the guts to bounce back, and the home side cannot afford to display a show similar to their first innings recital.
"Possibly a little bit but was a strange day. How often do you see so many wickets fall in the space of two or three hours," a leading daily quoted Rudolph.
Since it is a two-match competition, the South Africans will have to hamper Aussies from winning the next contest in order to seal the series.
The opening batsman advised his colleagues to iron out their flaws and appear with a competitive performance in the second and the final encounter, to be played at Johannesburg from November 17 to November 21, 2011.
The 30-year-old added, "Going into this next game, it will be the team who deals with it the best and moves forward from there that will be successful going into The Wanderers Test."
According to the Transvaal-born left-handed batsman, the South Africans were not at their best in the previous game because it was their first 5-day game since January 2011. He however, expects an improved recital by his side after taking a sluggish star
in the last game.
Rudolph recently returned to the national crew after a long gap of five years and he is confident of displaying something amazing in the playoff.
