Hi there.

genetecists think they have established all modern man descends from one female - an Eve! They are unable to prove how many males she may have reproduced with at this time, so THAT side of the tree is exactly right!

Every time a baby is created, the genetic dice are thrown - there is standard variation built in and also room for random mutation. Every human fits inside these parameters and the proof that we are essentially the same is that we can interbreed easily.

The basic principle appear to be that of all mammalian life, to produce individuals in the same generation able to take extra advantage of changes in the environment. It also allows non-viable variations to occur, sadly.

But there WAS and Eve, there was probably and Adam, and the mammalian model inherently allows for changes.

this is just my opinion.....

this is where evolution comes in, as people migrated to different places in the world, we changed to suit the environment. the further north, the lighter the skin became because we didn&#039;t need as much sun protection.  that explains colors, physically, africans in very hot countries are taller and leaner, the body adapted to let more heat escape. Smaller more compact and heavier bodies evolved in colder climated to conserve body heat.

Culture is simply people&#039;s different ways of living and thinking. but all people have the same basics, family and &#039;tribe&#039; protection. We&#039;re social animals that need other humans for survival.

again, this is my opinion based on observations.

ps. I believe it&#039;s entirely possible that God created life, and uses evolution as one of His tools. Just because the bible leaves us with questions does not mean it isn&#039;t true, it just means that neither religion or science has ALL the answers, but taken together, the picture becomes clearer.

Actually there is very little diversity, when you examine our genes. All humans are closely related, more so than our closest living relative, the chimpanzee.

The variation in skin colour, physical characteristics, language and culture can be explained by human&#039;s geographical migration across the Earth over the past 60,000 years.

Cultural and physical isolation in different climates, has caused the diversity.

Considering this is in the anthropology section and not religion...maybe this will help...Anthropologists believe that life arouse out of the Euphrates River Valley...this was close to the equator...hence the darker skin...melanin...(protection from the sun) and then people began to migrate...this means that the farther from the equator the less melanin the skin needed to produce...thus at different latitudes the different skin tones

right I have to say now that I don&#039;t believe in the bible...otherwise it&#039;s safe to say that we&#039;re all inbreeding which would mean we&#039;re regressing and not progressing.  And that basically means that the smartest people ever to live would be adam and eve and that dosy tart couldn&#039;t even resist an apple...

But the diversity of the people would still be very much possible.  It would just be a reaction to a settlement of people living in their surroundings for an extended period of time.  I think even Christians recognise that the human race can evolve and adapt to it&#039;s surroundings.  

Black people had to adapt to the intense heat and constant sun so their pigments changed colour permanently...where as brits are born with an unhappy face to prepare themselves for the constant dissapointment of their football team failing to win the world cup even though we invented the game.
