Turkey is the only muslim country who has adopted secularism, (and even one of the only few countries of the world, ).*

Why the other countries don't follow the turkish example ?

I think that Turkey is a good model for all the Muslim countries and for most of Western countries and Third-World countries too...Even though this country has still some serious problems in its internal politic affairs ( a fundementalist party is currently ruling the state ).

What's your opinion, Turkish friends ?...

  1. Bon Jour Momo,

My answer is NO!(I'm sorry but this is reality!

When we have a really independent state

(the independence is possible if any country has the political, financial, economical, judicial,

military and cultural independence features-M.K.Atatürk) ,

then Türkiye will be  correct example for the POOR countries.("Mazlum" peoples).

Therefore  we must stop the relations with NATO-EU(Customs union)-IMF

    and World Bank .

    After these steps ,WHY NOT?

BTW , as a laic people, we don't prefer to name to the countries with the "religion title" in the politic issue!

je vous souhaite une bonne vacance

  2. In some sences yes but not fully. Remember Turkey has very serious problems such as high corruption rate, human right issues, (yes, Turkey has the same or similar rules and laws as many EU countries but they are just fake rules, unpracticed many times. This is the main problem, perhaps...), education (extremely serious), unemployment... Example??? Turkey is just more liberal. I dont know about Arabic countries but Turkey has far more way to walk by...

  3. I know that Muslim country is a controversial concept. It may be described as a country whose majority of the population is Muslim or a country whose constitution embodies Islamic principles, but many people interpret it in the second way and disapprove of it in Turkey. Besides, it is mainly the USA that want Turkey to be a role model, but most of the Turks have doubts about the concept lest Turkey lose credibility and it is also officially rejected.

Back to the point, it is the minority rule of the Arab elites that obstruct democratic progress to hold funding for themselves. They oppose modernizing reforms for the fear of losing their powers, status with the masses.

  4. It seems Turkey will not only be a model for Muslim countries, but for European countries with Muslim populations as well.

I am saying this because there are some upstart European (British and French, in the instances I read in newspapers) judges that think they can c**p the traditional secularism of Europe in favor of Islamic rules for "some" issues related to their Muslim citizens. I mean... ???

  5. agree with Cetin.Ä°MF NATO EU are blood suckers and evil for Turkiye.

    bon vacance sahbi.

  6. I think Turkey definitely is a step further then all other Muslim countries. I guess that in being so it could be a sort of model for the other countries.

    Turkey stands out because:

    - It has some serious women's rights

    - It has serious intellectual freedom. Not as good as most western countries (there are still too many taboos) but way better than in the other Islamic countries.

    - It is a real (and secular) democracy and not a kleptocracy like most Arab countries who have either dictators or some privileged elite that controls the country for generations.

I personally think Turkey still has to make a lot of progress to reach the same standard of living as most western-European countries, but it is a work in progress.

  7. Im arab and from lebanon. Turkey is a great model and lebanon is the same thing, we aren't very strinct about religion as iran or saudi arabia but arabs think they are the best. we r having political problems too but ur right other countries should be layed back from religion like lebanon and turkey

  8. I think all countries should be secular. Religion should be separated from the state. But still, that doesn't mean that people should be ashamed of being Muslims and stop practising their religion.
