Dessert suggestions for Beef Goulash?

I'm making Beef Goulash for a large crowd and can't figure out what to serve for dessert. Any suggestions? I'm also planning to serve the goulash with noodles and sour cream, any other side suggestions appreciated!

  1. Some kind of cobbler or crisp - apple, blueberry, or peach.  Serve hot with some vanilla ice cream.


  2. Sorbet with Limoncello Spiked Fruit

    From PartySugar's Top Secret Chef Friend

    1 1/2 cups small diced seasonal fruit of your choice, and any/all juice produced from dicing fruits

    1/4 cup Simple Syrup*

    1/4 cup Limoncello

    2 teaspoons freshly chopped mint

    Sorbet of you choice

    Dice the fruit and reserve with any juice produced by dicing.

    Combine simple syrup with Limoncello, mint, reserved fruit, and fruit juice.

    Divide the fruit soup mixture among 4 shallow bowls, making sure to get even amounts of fruit and liquid in each.

    Top each bowl with 3 small scoops of fruit sorbet and serve immediately.

    Serves 4.

    *Simple Syrup

    2 cups sugar

    1 cup water

    Put one cup of water in a small saucepan.

    Add two cups of sugar.

    Heat to a boil while stirring.

    Reduce heat and continue to stir until the sugar dissolves.

    Cool to room temperature.

    Find a clean container that will hold at least a cup and a half.

    Using a funnel, pour liquid into container.

    Seal and store in refrigerator indefinitely.

    Use whenever a recipe calls for simple sugar or simple syrup.

  3. Maybe topping it off with something light - like angel food cake and strawberries / berry mix with whipped creme.

    Strawberry shortcake?  Berry crisp?  Apple crisp?  

    **Something not too heavy after all those noodles and beef and sour creme!  NOT chocolate...

  4. Try an ice cream sundae, have a variety of toppings for everyone to make their favorite.  Suggestions for toppings chopped nuts, sliced banana or other fruit, chocolate chips, sauces- chocolate, carmel or butterscotch, sprinkles and whipped cream.

  5. Had goulash last night. I'd have a second serving because I like good entrees and sides better than sweets. But how about cheesecake with the creme-cheese topping.

  6. I think I'd have an assortment of desserts that can be put on a buffet and people can pick up as they desire: brownies, lemon bars, pecan squares, fruit tartlets, blonde brownies, slices of pound cake, that sort of thing.
