Question:

Destination Wedding and Best time to Travel?

We are looking at either Cuba or Mexico for the wedding.

What's the best time of year to travel to these places?

We are also hoping to find a rather secluded resort, some place a bit more private. Any ideas?

Have you done the destination wedding thing? What was your experience like?

What are the pros and cons of destination weddings?

  1. Cuba may be an issue. US citizens are discourage to travel there and you cannot use your us passposrt. Th ecuban will give you other documents to travel there as there is an embargo and a long standing issue wuth the US government. People may be afraid to travel there or may have a political reason not to attend. Also, some people are not allow to travel there becasue is considered treason (I'm not making this up), permanent residents, members of the US armed forces etc.

Mexico? Hmm. People will have to tramit their US passports to travel to mexico (it used not to be that way, now it is).

Avoid Cabo San Lucas (spring breakers and roudy college kids)

Avoid Acapulco (very populated and busy vacation spot for the locals, not clean nor safe)

Puerto Vallarta, Playa del Carmen are your best choices.

    Cancun, OK

I'm having a destination wedding as well

    Pros and cons

_hard to coordinate hotels on the high season

-People nowdays do not have money to travel anymore

-You will have a small attendance, so if you want a larger crowd, this may not be for you

-Logistics: picking up ppl from the airport, arranging transportation etc.

-Expense. TRavel will exceed 2k for yoru guests and require ample notice.

-Healt insurance. Someone getting sick on another country, liability

-Safety. Third world contries are famous for very skilled pickpocketers, hotel maids with sticky fingers and taxi drivers that will triple the charge for tourist. Food poisining/water quality is also an issue overseas.

-Resorts. Some popular destimnation wedding resorts (sandals etc.) are for adult s ONLY, so guests with children may have a problem attending.

    Chhooose carefully

    Good luck
