Mattia Destro has been compared with the legendary Italian striker Christian Vieri by some football critics.
Amongst them is the former Juventus and Italian midfielder Angelo Di Livio.
“He reminds me of Bobo Vieri,” former Juventus and Italy midfielder Angelo Di Livio says.
“He attacks space in a similar way and he has the same sort of physical attributes.”
While most of the strikers in today’s football are nimble on their feet and more recognizable for their fancy footwork. Bobo Vieri as he is known was an orthodox striker in comparison to the modern striker, he had more of a physical
presence on the pitch and had outstanding aerial ability. Destro in a lot of ways resembles Vierrie in this regard.
Destro was an import from Sienna this year, where he had a successful run and scored 12 goals making him the leading scorer of the side. He also has some experience playing for the Italian national side and has represented his
country for the U16, U19 and U21 squads.
The attacker's form of late has been mostly lack lustre after the transfer to AS Roma, however. He has only been able to score one goal since his induction in the giallorossi against Palermo in a home game. Since then he has remained
goal less in over eight Serie A games and in recent weeks has also lost out to other players in the opening eleven.
“I would personally give him starts because he really needs to play in order to win back the faith in himself,” Di Livio stated.
According to him, the player's lack of good performances could be because he has not been getting adequate chances to prove himself since his move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603. Someone even remotely resembling Vierri in play style can be polished in
to a valuable asset for any side.
Vieri was a well seasoned veteran striker and had 49 caps for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 in which he scored 23 goals. His most well known accomplishment was his record breaking transfer fee to Internazionale in 1999 for a whopping 32 million pounds.
