The Palermo chief has heaped praise on the young striker, and believes that the player was destined to join a great club like AS Roma.
Giuseppe Sannino has voiced his happiness at seeing Mattia Destro sign for AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, and has stressed that the young talent could turn into something special under Zdenek Zeman.
The young striker co-owned by Siena and Genoa has recently finalized his move to the capital outfit, but only after an extended drama surrounding the contention of the player was played out.
Sannino coached the 21-year-old in the last season during his stint with the Robur, and took some time to praise the player as well as the man.
The Palermo chief stated that a talent like Destro was destined to join a great club like AS Roma, and praised the talent of the player on the field along with his character off it.
The Aquile manager stated that the former Siena attacker is very lucky to have a manager like Zeman, and expressed his belief that the Czech coach is just the man required to turn the youngster into a star of tomorrow.
While talking to the press, the Eagles boss said:
“He was destined to join a great club and I’m happy for him. He’ll find Zdenek Zeman in Rome and he is a Coach who makes his strikers ‘explode’. I hope he becomes a great champion.”
Sannino went on to heap praise on Destro stating that he has a strong personality, and an undying will that propels him to keep striving for excellence no matter what the circumstances.
The Aquile chief revealed that he enjoyed a good rapport with the player during their time at Siena, but maintained that the relationship was not one without negative and positive reinforcements to help the player to keep improving.
“He’s a splendid kid. We all have weaknesses, but his great strength is that he never gives up and always wants to improve. I had a great relationship with him, one formed with pats on the back and kicks up the backside…”
Destro was a Serie A success story in the last season, in which he scored 12 goals for the Tuscan minnows.
