Destroyed monsters in Yu-Gi-OH! card duel?

When we duel, and use a card like Lightning Vortex where it says "Destroy all monsters", does that mean that the monsters get sent to the graveyard, or are they sent to another pile? We were told that if the effect says "Destroy", it removes the targeted monster from play (that monster can not be used in the dual again, no matter what), rather than sending it to the graveyard.

Are we understanding this "Destroy" rule? Every time a card says to "Destroy" a monster, is is completely removed from play, or does it simply go to the graveyard?

  1. Lighting vortex only sends monsters to the Graveyatd

  2. to graveyard

  3. Cards like lightning vortex send the monsters to the graveyard.

The act of destroying sends the cards to the graveyard.

Cards will say remove from play if they remove stuff from play.

  4. Destroy means sent from field to graveyard, which is the graveyard pile above the deck!

Remove is to automatically remove from play, unless u have cards that bring them back the the field, deck or grave!

Read the Manuel version 6.0 or go to the official website: ude.com for more info

  5. When you Destroy a Card, it is removed from the field and, unless specified otherwise, sent to the Graveyard.

Destroy is actually a Yu-Gi-Oh! term. You can find this all in the rulebook!
