Destroying a CD with personal data?

Is it enough to scratch the surface with a sharp instrument or could the data still be recovered after that?

Snapping them can be messy the shiny specks of surface go everywhere.

i would snap and heat or just burn

step on it outside on the sidewalk and drag with your foot that way no one will see what you have on there
