  1. global warming is the increase in temperature of our atmosphere.this is due to depletion of ozone layer.actually the sunlight which we receive is not the actual sunlight emitted from sun.some of it  like the harmful uv raysetc., are filtered by this layer before the sunlight reaches the earth.and some of the remaining light is reflected by the snow present at the poles.we receive only a part of it.

by excessive use of fossil fuels we are emitting some gases into the atmosphere in large quantities.these are called green house gases.some of the gases are co,co2,no2,chlorofluro carbons(emitted from refrigirators, acs etc.so we should change refrigirators and acs after a certain period.).these gases are emitted due to excessive use of fossil fuels.these gases play a role in depleting the ozone layer.because of this there is no perfect sheilding for our earth.even the ice caps near the poles are melting due to depletion of ozone layer.so there is no sufficient filtering and reflection of sun rays.they reach the earth with high intensity and make the temperatures increase.

  2. it does not exist. the record high temps have happened 50 to 70 years ago.

Southwest Ohio had a record low, on the 4th of July!

This global warming is costing me money, I have to pay for LP to keep my pool heated.

  3. Don't worry about it.  Worry more about your government and the UN and the plans they have for you in the guise of saving the planet.  End of report.

  4. I summarized the science regarding the causes of climate change in the link below.  Check it out.

  5. Global warming is a natural occurance that no government can do anything about. It is caused by a number of factors, including changes to the Earths orbit, output of undersea vulcanoes and a host of other natural causes.

The melting of the Arctic ice is caused by water warmed by the undersea vulcanoes in the middle of the Atlantic ocean, and the hundreds of "Ring of Fire" undersea vulcanoes around the Pacific ocean.

Greenies are nothing but terrorists trying to undermine the global economy, and are responsible for the price speculation that has forced fuel prices so high.

  6. Global warming is the increase in the average measured temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-twentieth century, and its projected continuation.

Increasing global temperature is expected to cause sea level to rise, an increase in the intensity of extreme weather events, and significant changes to the amount and pattern of precipitation. Other expected effects of global warming include changes in agricultural yields, modifications of trade routes, glacier retreat, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vectors.

The Earth's climate changes in response to external forcing, including variations in its orbit around the Sun, changes in solar luminosity, volcanic eruptions and atmospheric greenhouse gas concentration.

    Cause of global warming--------------

Almost 100% of the observed temperature increase over the last 50 years has been due to the increase in the atmosphere of greenhouse gas concentrations like water vapour, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane and ozone. Greenhouse gases are those gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect .The largest contributing source of greenhouse gas is the burning of fossil fuels leading to the emission of carbon dioxide.

The predicted effects of global warming on the environment and for human life are numerous and varied. It is generally difficult to attribute specific natural phenomena to long-term causes, but some effects of recent climate change may already be occurring. Raising sea levels, glacier retreat, Arctic shrinkage, and altered patterns of agriculture are cited as direct consequences, but predictions for secondary and regional effects include extreme weather events, an expansion of tropical diseases, changes in the timing of seasonal patterns in ecosystems, and drastic economic impact. Concerns have led to political activism advocating proposals to mitigate, eliminate, or adapt to it.

What should be reduced to stop global warming?

Whenever you burn fossil fuels like petrol, gas, wood, etc, you inevitably generate the gas CO2 called carbon dioxide. This large emission of carbon dioxide is the main cause of global warming and all its side effects. Our goal must be to burn less fossil fuels for heating and for engines.

There are some ways to prevent the earth from disappearing like, reduce using the electricity at home by turning off the lights and TV at night when it is time for bedtime. Another one, do not throw any garbage either cups, bottles, and papers into the river that will contaminate the river. Be aware to use too much gasoline if the store is only three or four blocks away from your house. Recycling any items that can be recycles or drop it off at any recycling area.

"To waste, to destroy, our natural resources, to skin and exhaust the land instead of using it so as to increase its usefulness, will result in undermining in the days of our children the very prosperity which we ought by right to hand down to them."

"When the earth is sick and polluted, human health is impossible.... To heal ourselves we must heal our planet, and to heal our planet we must heal ourselves."

"Pollution should never be the price of prosperity."

    "save the environment"

  7. http://dels.nas.edu/dels/rpt_briefs/clim...  <== here's a good description.

  8. Due to high  em mission of carbon dioxide and other green house gases. the temperature of earth is st rated to increase .due to this high temperature the ice of both poles (north and south pole of the earth will be mail one day . And result flood in coastal area of the world. this is known as global warming.

  9. Global warming is an observation scientists have made basically saying that the temperature is trending upwards.  It all has to do with the greenhouse effect.

The greenhouse effect is a principal, which basically boils down to parking your car on a sunny day.  Light goes in through the window and hits the dash/seats/interior.  Some light is reflected and some is absorbed depending on the color if your interior (white reflects more, black absorbs more).  The energy that is absorbed turns to heat, and is re-radiated as heat, heating the air in your car.  The heat can't escape, so it continues to build up.

The same thing happens to the earth.  Sunlight comes in, some is reflected, some is absorbed and turns to heat.  Our atmosphere (the glass in the earlier example) has gasses in it that are more efficient at holding onto the heat than others. The key players are carbon dioxide which is less than 1% of our atmosphere, methane (16 times more efficient than carbon dioxide) water vapor (up to 16,000 times more efficient than carbon dioxide) and many others.

The environmentalists, politicians and some scientists think this is cause for concern, saying that humans are at fault and that this will cause for a catastrophe.  Sea levels will rise as ice sheets melt leaving populated coastal areas flooded, large regions that are hot now will become inhabitable and will turn to desert, etc.  They want to regulate greenhouse gasses to stop the earth from heating further.

The non-believers, which are basically everyone that doesn't buy the hype say that there are natural geologic and meteorologic forces, data manipulation (and fraud), speculation, and hundreds of other things wrong with the global warming crowd, and that we have bigger things to worry about than an insignificant observation.

  10. There is no such thing as Global Warming, just natural ebbs in the world's climate. One big Volcano will actually reverse any global warming trend, and then it will start all over again. Man has not been keeping temperature records long enough to know what the Earth's natural cycles really are. Global Warming is just another scare tactic that Special Interest, and some Governments, use to control the Masses and get their way.

  11. Environment is the surround where we live:

All of living humans & animal ; inhale oxygen & exhale carban dioxide.

For the earth’s environment plant inhale carban dioxide  & exhale oxygen.

For Eco. Balance oxygen = carban dioxide

but by burning the energy resources to Generate the Power, release  the excess carban dioxide , which is causing the green house effect – due to this Global warming is taking place.

Energy resources are mainly – Conventional  & Non conventional

Conventional such as – Coal , Fossil fuel ( Diesel, Petrol, LPG,CNG, etc.) & Nuclear etc.

Non conventional -  Solar, Wind, Hydro & Bio diesel etc.

These are mainly for used generating power, using Thermal/Gas/ Nuclear Power Plants. Which is turn used for Domestic use, Industrial & Commercial purposes such as running Factories & Transportation, running Agricultural Infrastructures etc.  Obliviously with Industrial revolution energy requirement is tremendously increasing. However it leads to releasing of harmful gases and solid waste such as fly ash etc. which is causing Green house effect & Nuclear plant has risk of harmful radiations which is dangers to human life & animal kingdom.

Diesel, Petrol, ATF & Gas is being used in big way for IC& Jet engines which in turn used for transportation (LMV, LCV, HCV etc.) and Generators etc. Which in turn leading to Global warming, melting of polar ice & climate change etc.

We are still running plants based on old technologies, warn out & completed it’s full life may be 40 – 50 years old or more. In India we have seen the fiasco such as Enron Power, a new plant but due to red- tapism  couldn’t  be operated as per initial agreement & many more cases. ,

Use of Freon in Air conditioners is also causing to damage to environment. By developing the alternative to Freon & curbing the use of it.

Where new alternatives are under Research & development such as Bio diesel using Jetropha seeds (Ratan Jot)etc. so can we plant the Jetropha, this can give us Alternative Fuel for future and stopping the deforestation? and Non conventional sources are still not economical compared to conventional ones except hydro in some cases.

so keeping  watch of electricity consumed, Airconditioners and  SUV's & no. of Vehicles used by us...

As a social cause it’s the duty of all citizen, Govt. & Industry to conserve the energy recourse, by not exploiting them and Make our planet Greener & safer for all.

  12. Global warming is the increase in the average measured temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans since the mid-twentieth century, and its projected continuation.

The average global air temperature near the Earth's surface increased 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the hundred years ending in 2005.[1] The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes "most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-twentieth century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (man-made) greenhouse gas concentrations"[1] via an enhanced greenhouse effect. Natural phenomena such as solar variation combined with volcanoes probably had a small warming effect from pre-industrial times to 1950 and a small cooling effect from 1950 onward.[2][3]

These basic conclusions have been endorsed by at least thirty scientific societies and academies of science,[4] including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries.[5][6][7] While individual scientists have voiced disagreement with some findings of the IPCC,[8] the overwhelming majority of scientists working on climate change agree with the IPCC's main conclusions.[9][10]

Climate model projections summarized by the IPCC indicate that average global surface temperature will likely rise a further 1.1 to 6.4 °C (2.0 to 11.5 °F) during the twenty-first century.[1] This range of values results from the use of differing scenarios of future greenhouse gas emissions as well as models with differing climate sensitivity. Although most studies focus on the period up to 2100, warming and sea level rise are expected to continue for more than a thousand years even if greenhouse gas levels are stabilized. The delay in reaching equilibrium is a result of the large heat capacity of the oceans.[1]

Remaining scientific uncertainties include the amount of warming expected in the future, and how warming and related changes will vary from region to region around the globe. Most national governments have signed and ratified the Kyoto Protocol aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, but there is ongoing political and public debate worldwide regarding what, if any, action should be taken to reduce or reverse future warming or to adapt to its expected consequences
