Details and screen shots now available for upcoming FIFA Street
In a recent interview with Gary Peterson, who happens to be the creative director at EA Canada, a number of details about the coming FIFA Street were released, as well as a number of screen shots, which give us an idea of what to expect from the upcoming
game.
To start things off, the game is going to be looking to tweak on the system that it has running at the moment, instead of going on and building a brand new game from scratch. At the same time, the game will not allow 11 v 11 matches, but up to twelve players
will be able to play games and on local systems, the split screen will make a comeback to accommodate co-op play.
The game is being developed on the same engine as FIFA 12, but for obvious reasons, more attention is going to be paid to the skills and moves that players are able to execute in the game. However, at the same time, passing is also going to be a crucial
part of the game.
Paterson went on to insist that passing was going to be an integral part of the game this time around and is quoted to have said, “You're definitely going to have to play a passing game to a degree in 6-vs-6 games, which have reasonably big pitches.”
He then went on to talk about the skills and flair moves that are set to be incorporated in the game. The creative director added, “Street football is all about flare, so we'll have the likes of heel passes and flare passing. What we're debating over right
now is how difficult to make a pass.”
He then ended by admitting that the gameplay was going to be a little different when compared to FIFA 12 for obvious reasons and said, “Obviously, in the main FIFA series the difficulty isn't in placing a single pass; it's in stringing 15 or 20 passes together
to create space so you can get a good shot away. But with such small pitches in Street, one successful pass can potentially put you through on goal for a scoring opportunity.”
At the moment a number of screen shots have been released which give us an idea of just what to expect from the upcoming game. However, with FIFA 12 looking to run the show once it is released at the end of September, EA are going to have to deliver a completely
different experience with FIFA Street, or they might not be able to sell as many copies of the game as they are hoping to.
