  1. Like Atom said, it depends on your state of how much "Assistance" they give you.

I live in Kansas and KSNG will pay up to 100% of your tuition/fees for the Federal side.....as well, the State Tuition will pay up to 100% as well.

My state caps the tuition rate at $250/hour or something like $4500/semester.

You'll also get the GI Bill which is a certain percentage of the Active Duty GI bill.....if you qualify for the GI Bill Kicker, you get an extra $200/mo in addition to the GI bill.

You also get your drill checks per month.

It was fun before Iraq and during Iraq; since getting back in Nov. '06 and the deployment I have been of the mindset "Whats the point?  I've been to Iraq, theres nothing left to do."  And so I ETS next month.

Its been mostly fun but theres so much bullshit to put up with as well as the stupidity of other people.  90% of the people are the lowest common denominator, at least in Infantry anyway.

  2. It depends on your state. Some states pay 60%, 80% or others up to 100%. The rules for Colorado are I have to be in "active drill" for 6 months before I am eligible for 100% tuition at selected schools. That means the time after basic and tech, aka your first drill day.

A buddy of mine that is in the Air Guard gets about $850 a month while a full time student and doesn't have to pay for tuition at all. He also gets the signing bonus on top of that. He loves it and recommended it to me.

  3. oh yeah, you get help with school.  and you also get to be deployed.  you will be deployed.  make sure that is factored into you life.
