Detective case idea for kids?

I need ideas on a detective case for my two nephews. They are 8 and 10 and like to have mysteries to solve. Does anyone have any ideas on a mystery and clues/riddles that I could have to help them find it? I did one today that had someone eating brownies late at night and they had to find out who it was. I placed a plate with crumbs, cup of milk with a chocolate smudge, a note saying someone didn't eat breakfast because they were full from last night, etc. Any ideas?

when i babysit kids, they like to do the same thing. what i would recommend is reading Cam Jansen books by David A. Alder, there are mysteries in there you could simplify...hope this helped!! =]
