Determining Medal Count?

In determining the medal count how is it figured out? If the USA wins a gold medal in a relay race does that count as 4 golds (one for each racer) or 1 gold (for the team as a whole)?!?

Thanks...

  2. 1 gold in the table. 4 are given out physically.

  3. One.

Just like how when a volleyball team wins, it only counts as one-- or else some lucky country would have their medal count skyrocket.

  4. It is counted as 1 but all the members are awarded with a gold medal.

  5. All team and relays only receive only 1 medal in the medal count.

Each member receives a medal, but it won't count more than once...

  6. 1

  7. if one of the u.s.a. members gets on the podium and wins either gold, silver and bronze it counts as one.

or just look on the yahoo sports page.
