  1. I researched this a long time ago cause I had baby sliders too.

you have to wait a little while until they develope more.

Now theres a difference, females usually grow bigger, and ummmm dam i forgot. Lol

you can tell the difference because the tails, and the nails. Look it up on google. "differences between male and female red-eard sliders"

  2. They are to little right now., Gender especially on the little guys it  can be difficult to s*x. Gender in adults is determined by external physical characteristics and behavior. Males have longer fore claws (which are use in courtship), a longer thicker tail length. Males are smaller in size and shell length. Turtles are considered juveniles till after 5 yrs old.

Females have short nails and grow bigger than the guys,. as long as they have plenty of guppies, minnows, goldfish and leafy greens like romaine and butter lettuce..and a large tank.

  3. google it, and look for something with pictures. with some types of turtles you have to look at different shapes and patterns of the underbelly of the shell!

  4. You can't tell until it is older.

How to Determine the s*x of a Slider

    Is my turtle a

    boy or a girl?

Similar to how captive RES grow at a faster rate, they also mature sexually faster than wild RES. As previously mentioned, females are physically larger and have a smaller tail. Males have longer, thicker tails and longer front claws with the cloaca closer to the tip of the tail.

    Too small to tell!

In general, the sexual maturity of a RES is mainly based on its size. You have to wait for these characteristics to develop before you can determine their gender and you cannot easily distinguish the s*x of a RES that is less than 4 inches in length. The rough estimations for captive RES are: 2-4 years for males with a SCL of 4" and 3-5 years for females with a SCL of around 5". In cases of excessive overfeeding, sexual maturity will be reached faster.

Older male RES might have other features that may be visible. Males will have a slightly longer nose/snout area.  The end of the male plastron may also be partially curved inwards or appear concave. This allows the male some stability during mating. Both these features are too subtle to be a reliable factor for sexing young RES.

  5. you cant tell the gender until the turtle is older

if it is a male the tail will be long and think and the bottom of the shell will have an indentation.

  6. try this.

it has something about red-eared sliders in it :)

  7. it is too hard to tell when they are babies, you have to wait until they mature

  8. Wait a few years, then ask again. You can't tall the s*x of a baby without injuring it.

  9. If im correct determining the s*x of a baby RED is by its tail. a boy has a bigger wider tail then a girl.
