Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh looking forward to new season - NFL News
Detroit Lions defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh had a poor 2011-12 campaign in relation to his rookie season as his production and sacks decreased, while he also got on the critics radar after lashing out at a Green Bay Packers player during the Lions Thanksgiving
Day encounter with their National Football Conference (NFC) North rivals.
Suh had an explosive rookie season as he showed that the Lions were right to pick him second overall in the 2010-11 draft.
However, his reputation as one of the best up and coming young tackles took a hit as his production declined significantly while his attitude was also questioned.
Things came to a head when Suh stomped on the arm of Packers guard, Evan Dietrich-Smith in the Thanksgiving Day loss and was suspended for two games by the National Football League (NFL).
In the offseason though, Suh has tried to regain some of his lost reputation and has worked hard to rebuild his image.
Speaking to the Detroit News on Sunday after making an appearance at the Detroit Grand Prix, the burly defensive tackle said.
"I want to show the true person I am. Obviously, you see me here interacting. You see me in the city of Detroit."
Suh who is a big fan of motorsports was the Grand Marshal at the event and greatly enjoyed his time at the race track.
"You get to hear all the engines roar and it's kind of like the beginning of a football game."
He went on to add.
"When sports are thriving and this economy runs, everybody feels it. We want to make sure (as athletes) that we're always coming out on a high level."
The Lions ended up with a 10-6 regular season record last season and qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 1999.
Their end to the long playoff drought showed a great sign of progress at a franchise that just recently went without a single regular season win.
This change is mostly due to the development of young players such as Suh and including quarterback, Matthew Stafford as well as wide receiver, Calvin Johnson and next season the franchise is expected to progress further into the playoffs.
