Detroit Lions defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh may just be 25-years-old but after two seasons with the Lions as a starter he is now one of the experienced voices in the Lions locker room.
With his third season in the National Football League (NFL) coming up this year, the defensive tackle is ready to take up the mantle of being a vocal presence and is prepared to help young players assimilate into the roster.
Speaking to the Detroit Free Press on Monday, Suh said that he is ready to start helping the new draft picks.
"If I see a guy that needs some help and just might need a word here or (there) just to understand a little bit better, as Coach uses some of us as starters or guys that have been here a couple years that are still young that say look at what he's doing
and mimic that or whatever.”
The defensive tackle has become a firm fan favourite during his two seasons at the franchise as his never-say-die attitude and his physical style of play endears him to the fans.
He now has a big task ahead of him to motivate the young players and help them learn tricks and moves to become better at their position.
However, Suh is not going to shy away from his new duties.
"So I don't have a problem stepping up and saying anything. I'm more ... of a guy that kind of shows by example. Just being able to do it, a couple tips here and there should be fine."
The defensive tackle exploded into the NFL with a brilliant rookie season in 2010 after being drafted second overall by Detroit Lions.
Suh made 66 tackles last year and recorded 10 sacks to cement his position in the Lions starting roster.
However, last season his production decreased significantly after he recorded just 36 tackles and four sacks.
He also got into trouble with the NFL after stomping on the hand of Green Bay Packers guard, Evan Dietrich-Smith during the Lions Thanksgiving Day encounter.
This year Suh must get back to his best form as the Lions target the Super Bowl in the upcoming season.
