Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh talks about training and defensive line - NFL News
Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is one of the most exciting young talents in the National Football League (NFL).
Ever since arriving in the league as a first round, second overall draft pick by the Lions in 2010, the defensive tackle has established himself as a stalwart of the franchise’s defensive roster.
His rookie season production was off the charts as he made 66 tackles and 10 sacks in the regular season to shock the league.
However, his production decreased significantly in the 2011 season as he made just 36 tackles and recorded only four sacks.
This year though the defensive tackle is looking forward to get back to his best and help Detroit Lions once again challenge for a playoff spot.
Speaking in a radio interview with Sirius XM Suh said:
"I've had great conversations with (defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham), really, since we've got back into our off-season training program. ...”
Adding further he said:
“The great thing about our defensive line is that everybody is interchangeable. I can play left end, I can play right end, I can play left tackle, I can play right tackle. Just being able to ... have the offensive line never know where we'll be lining up
will be, obviously, a threat in its own."
Lions head coach Jim Schwartz had also hinted in previous interviews that he might move around the defensive line this season to give more unpredictability to the team.
Suh is a big part of those plans as he is the best defenseman on the roster and the Lions will need him at his best to push again for the playoffs.
The defensive tackle also spoke about his offseason training and said that he had a great time at the organised team activities (OTAs) and the mandatory minicamp as he learnt much more about the team’s defensive schemes.
“I'm definitely excited to get back to work and pick up where I left off at OTAs."
Detroit are targeting a return to the playoffs this year and will need Suh to bring some ferocity to the defence to help the team once again qualify for the postseason.
