Detroit Lions WR Titus Young back to training, apologises for actions - NFL News
Detroit Lions wide receiver, Titus Young, who was barred from taking part in the voluntary practice sessions last week, was finally allowed to return back to training by the franchise.
Young was removed from training by the Lions after he hit teammate and safety, Louis Delmas, from behind following a heated argument between the two.
However, on Tuesday Young was allowed to return to practice with security guards positioned to stop reporters from asking questions from the player.
The wide receiver, has released a statement apologising for his actions through the Lions and said that he deeply regrets hitting Delmas.
In his statement to the press he said.
"My recent actions have not always been up to the standards the Lions expect or the standards that I expect from myself. I am truly sorry for those times when I didn't meet those standards.”
Adding further he continued.
"My absence from the practice facility and the OTAs last week was necessary for both myself and the team."
Young is known for his hot headedness and his actions coming on the back of recent arrests of Lions players caught with possession of marijuana has completely taken the spotlight away from the franchise’s achievements last season.
The wide receiver, went on to say that he has now had time to reflect on his actions and will try to become a better teammate and player while setting a good example.
"The time away from the team afforded me the opportunity to reflect and come to the realization that by putting those incidents behind me I will be able to focus on becoming the best teammate and player that I can be."
Defensive tackle, Nick Fairley who was caught with possession of marijuana last weekend also returned back to training on Tuesday but did not answer any questions by the media.
Fairley was charged with drug possession and reckless driving after Alabama State Troopers caught him driving his Cadillac Escalade at 100 miles per hour.
Both these players will now have their actions under strict scrutiny by the franchise and after facing such tough punishments the Lions can only hope that both Fairley and Young have learnt their lessons.
