Detroit Lions ease past hosts Jacksonville Jaguars 31-14 – NFL Recap
Majority members of Jacksonville Jaguars agree to believe no one, as the team’s total collapse at their home ground continues following Sunday’s (Nov.04) 31-14 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Their performance is exactly opposite to their American Football Conference (AFC) South division’s rivals and leaders Houston Texans. Whereas the Texans are running havoc through the oppositions’ lines, the Jaguars have been failing themselves as a team,
both on the offensive and defensive lines.
No one can better explain the current poor showing of the team than tight end Marcedes Lewis, who said:
"It hurts. I'm tired of this. There's nobody to point a finger at because we're all in this together, and together we're going to have to find a way to win ball games, period. There's nothing else left to it.”
He added:
"One of these days we're going to put it all together and get it done and get it done again. That's what keeps us hungry. And whoever is not with that, go home. Don't come back."
He was also joined by almost a similar view by second-year quarterback Blaine Gabbert. He said:
"Come on, that's pathetic for an offense to have 12 plays in the first half and be 0 for 4 on third downs."
Blaine managed to complete 27 out of 38 passes for a total of 220 yards. There was no other significant effort. It was complete lack of effort by the team, as coach Mike Mularkey has described the situation.
The coach is not pleased the way the team has progressed in the season so far. Although there are a significant number of games left to play, the Jaguars have little chance to make the playoffs this season.
The players are losing their confidence quickly and it is feared that the team, with only one win so far, might end up worse than last year. The team finished the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season with five wins. This year they have only one, and
in the remaining games they face oppositions to which they have already lost. So the prospects are not great for them for the rest of the season.
Some of the commentators have started questioning the position of Blaine the way they had done last year when Del Rio had persisted with him as starter. They have drawn attention of the management and especially of the coach about their wisdom of sticking
to Blaine once again.
