Detroit Lions legend believes DT Ndamukong Suh will be a 'different guy' this season - NFL News
Detroit Lions had a massive 2011-12 regular season campaign as they finally made it to the playoff rounds with a 10-6 record.
The Lions offence was brilliant as quarterback, Matthew Stafford, finally overcame his injury woes and wide receiver, Calvin Johnson continued to show that he is one of the best receivers in the league.
Defence on the other hand was the Lions Achilles heel and its production decreased significantly towards the end of the season.
Their best defenseman defensive tackle, Ndamukong Suh, also faced a tough campaign as his production decreased significantly last season in relation to the numbers he put up during his rookie season.
Former Lions defensive end, Al (Bubba) Baker, though believes that in 2012-13 opponents will see much better performances from Suh.
Speaking to the Detroit Free Press on Sunday, Baker said that Suh had a lot of pressure on his young shoulders in the last season and even with that he handled himself well.
"It's always tough. After your rookie year and you're coming back for your second year, everybody knows you and they want to make a point, and I think he handled himself better than I did."
He went on to say that Suh will be much better next year since he would be able to handle all the pressure and will be completely ready to take up responsibility.
"Watch this year, 'cause now he's going to have a combination of nobody knowing who he is and everybody knowing who he is. You'll see a different guy 'cause he's not going to come out feeling all that pressure and have the sophomore jinx and that self-imposed
pressure, 'I've got to do this, I've got to do that.' "
Suh last year had just four sacks in 2011-12 and like the rest of the Lions defence struggled to assert himself as he did in his first year when he made 10 sacks.
The Lions are targeting to return back to the playoffs this year and they would need Suh to be at his best if they wish to achieve their goals this year.
Fans have great expectations from Suh and it will be interesting to see how he performs in his third year in the National Football League (NFL).
