Detroit Lions wide receiver Ryan Broyles tears his ACL in right knee – NFL News
Detroit Lions wide receiver Ryan Broyles has torn his ACL in right knee. The injury occurred during Week 13 game against Indianapolis Colts.
Lions head coach Jim Schwartz announced on Monday that Broyles is going to miss the rest of the season due to this injury.
According to the Associated Press, talking about the chances of Broyles’ return before the end of the season, Schwartz said:
"It's something he's gone through already. Ryan's a real hard-working player. He did a great job with his rehab last time. It'll be a bump in the road for him, but it won't be something that he can't overcome."
Broyles went to the locker room in the first quarter of Sundays’ game and was replaced by Mike Thomas.
Lions are going to play next game against Green Bay Packers in Week 14, and Thomas is expected to start the game.
Broyles was selected in second round of the 2012 National Football League (NFL) draft. Last year while playing for his college in Oklahoma, he tore his ACL in left knee.
The rookie receiver has a total of 22 receptions for 310 yards in 10 games played this season. He has started three games this season and has got a total of two touchdowns to his name.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Titus Young, who was suspended after Week 11 game against Green Bay Packers due to disciplinary reasons, might not play anymore. According to Schwartz, Young will not play the rest of the season.
Talking about giving second chance to him, Schwartz said:
"I certainly believe in second chances. But you need to make the most of the opportunities you have. When you have an issue or you have something that occurs and you do get a second chance and you're welcomed back, you have to do everything to take advantage
of that opportunity. I think in this case, that didn't happen."
Lions have won four and lost eight games this season, and they are ranked 4th in National Football Conference (NFC) North.
