Detroit Pistons invite Jonny Flynn to training camp
Even though the Detroit Pistons have 15 players on guaranteed contracts for the coming NBA season, they are apparently still in a process of assessing their options. According to latest reports, the Pistons have extended an invitation
to oft-injured point guard Jonny Flynn to attend the training camp starting within a week’s time.
This would be a good opportunity for Flynn to prove himself as he is only 23 years old and still has a long career ahead of him. However, injury troubles have plagued his career, ever since he was drafted in as the sixth overall
selection in 2009.
Flynn has had constant injury troubles and his most successful campaign has been his rookie season during which he averaged 13.5 points and 4.4 assists. He spent last season with the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers but
hip injuries only allowed him to take part in only 29 games.
Terrence Williams who was the 11th pick in the same draft as Flynn is also on a non-guaranteed contract with the Pistons currently. The invitation to these players does come as a surprise. If either of the players impress,
Detroit will have to make a few moves to adjust them. Having a full roster binds them from making any permanent additions.
Lou Amundson and Minnesota Timberwolves reach an agreement
Power forward Lou Amundson and the Minnesota Timberwolves have reached an agreement on a one year guaranteed deal on a league minimum. The official announcement of the deal is set to follow as soon as Amundson passes a physical
test.
Amundson can be a key addition to the Minnesota front court which only had Kevin Love, Nikola Pekovic and Greg Stiemsma. Having an additional big man on the roster would be of great help to the Wolves, in a season that is tipped
by many analysts as the one in which the Wolves will make it big.
In his six year career, Amundson has been a part of the Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors. He spent last season with the Indiana Pacers where scored 3.6 points and hauled down 3.7 rebounds on
average.
