Detroit Pistons vs. Atlanta Hawks (A Preview)
Shedding Light on the Hawks and Pistons
The Hawks have been lucky in their previous matches against various teams. They were in the limelight previously for their awesome performance and the tough competition they gave to the Cavaliers. The Hawks gave the Cavs a tough time when they stood face to
face on November 2nd 2010 in the Quicken Loans Arena on the home ground of Cleveland. It was a 100-88 win that proved to raise the spirits of the Hawks.
The Detroit Pistons however gave the Boston Celtics an easy road to victory. They could only score 86 points against the Celtics who scored far more than the opponents. The Celtics scored 109 and were declared the champions.
The Caterpillars
Most surprisingly the Pistons were very non threatening and they lagged behind in giving their rivals healthy competition. This was in total contrast to the Hawks who kept the Cavs on an edge and made them rethink their performance.
The Hawks stood their ground and really made their head coach feel proud as he said later, “The sense I am getting from the players is they are really starting to feel good about themselves and buy into what we're doing.”--
Hawks coach Larry Drew
This was indeed a very encouraging compliment that would get the team going in the future as well.
Here comes Horford
The Hawks also have Al Horford on board, with his dare devil persona and the quality of slowly poisoning the opponent team, Horford stands tall amongst the Hawks. So the Pistons better keep an eye on him. Horford now has three doubles in four games.
Rondo gave 17 assists in the game against the Pistons which was much more than the total assists given by the entire team.
Tough Guys for the Pistons
The Pistons have also lost while playing against the Thunder 105-104. It seems like the Pistons have been losing their winning streak against teams like Thunder, Cavs and the Bulls. However the only two teams in the immediate history that couldn’t let them
out were the Hawks and the Washington Wizards.
Sloppy or not?
Words like Sloppy have been used for the Pistons when referring to their performance on their own home arenas. It seems like their turnovers keep getting lesser as the game proceeds. The Pistons even have players like Tracy Mc Gracy; who hasn’t even scored
a point since he joined the team. Whether they are actually sloppy or not, can be decided after watching the next game.
The only team that the Pistons have been able to defeat besides the Washington Wizards is the Atlanta Hawks.
The two Piston heroes, Rodney Stuckey and Charlie Villanueva are the ones who helped the team to win over the Wizards on Oct, 19, 2010.
Six Stuckey Shots- A Starter
Stuckey hit his fabulous six out of seven shots in the field during his play. He has been starting games like this for the Pistons, lucky for them to have a guy like him on the board.
Stuckey thinks that the role he plays is fine for him because his coach knows better about where to place him. How modest he is…
Jordan or Stuckey?
Jordan Crawford, from the Hawks on the other hand can give the Pistons a really tough time the way he did on Oct, 11, 2010. Although they lost the match to the Pistons he was still the one who kept it going for a while.
It’s all a matter of practice and following the rules that makes a man perfect for basketball. Let’s see who takes this prescription and stands victorious on November 3rd, 2010. The time is 7:00 pm and the venue will be Philips Arena, GA.
