Detroit Red Wings beat Phoenix Coyotes 6-3 to win series 4-0 – NHL playoffs
Detroit Red Wings beat Phoenix Coyotes 6-3 in the fourth game of the series played at the Jobing.com Arena on Wednesday.
The Red Wings have totally dominated the series so far and had established a 3-0 lead in the series before the game. This game saw the Red Wings coming out strong and wrapping up the series 4-0 to cement their position in the semi-finals.
The Red Wings were quick to start as they scored early to get into the lead. The Coyotes used the home advantage very well and scored two quick goals to go into the lead. However, the Red Wings caught pace once again and scored another goal to level the
scores. Both teams made a strong start to the game that saw them scoring a goal apiece in power-plays to keep the scores on level terms. The Coyotes were the stronger of the two teams at the start of the final period but they were not able to find the back
of the net. With the passage of time, it was the Red Wings who took control and scored three goals to win the game comfortably 6-3 in the end. Danny Cleary, winger of the Red Wings was named the star of the game as he scored a goal and ended the night with
two assists.
The Red Wings piled up quite a few shots on goal and scored in the fourth minute through a Tomas Holmstrom flick shot to get into the lead. The Coyotes responded with a goal in the sixth minute through Taylor Pyatt.
The Coyotes kept on attacking and scored once again in the 10th minute through captain Shane Doan to get into the lead. However, it was the Red Wings who scored through Patrick Eaves to level the scores on 2-2 as the period came to an end.
The second period kicked off with both teams continuing to attack and it was the Coyotes who scored in the second minute through Martin Hanzal in power-play. The Red Wings also came across a power-play and scored in the fifth minute through Niklas Kronwall
to keep the scores on level terms.
The scores were level on 3-3 at the end of the period with the Red Wings making 9 shots on goal while the Coyotes made 10 of those.
The Coyotes made several shots on goal but it was the Red Wings who scored in the 14th minute through Danny Cleary to get into the lead. The 16th minute witnessed the Red Wings scoring once again through Todd Bertuzzi from a wrap around
shot to double their lead.
The Red Wings kept on attacking and scored once again in the final minute through Patrick Eaves to win the game 6-3 in the end.
