Detroit Red Wings confident as they have more experience than San Jose Sharks when it comes to Game 7
Detroit Red Wings is flooded with experience when it comes to playing in Game 7 of a series. Red Wings has around 21 players in the current line-up who piled up a total of 77 Game 7’s during their career.
Sharks lack in this aspect as it has only 11 players who have the experience of playing in Game 7’s of a series.
There is surely going to be a lot of pressure on both teams as the series reaches it finale with Red Wings coming back to level the series after it was down by 3-0 after the first three games of the series.
"Everything is thrown out now", said Red Wings’ forward, Todd Bertuzzi, who has 2 goals in three career Game 7s. "It's just one game and winner takes all. I like where we're at".
Red Wings has been as productive in Game 7 of any series as in any other game and the pressure doesn’t seem to affect them.
Red Wings, with the players who have been involved in Game 7’s, have scored a total of 17 goals and 39 points in the games played while Sharks has scored three goals and only four points in the 11 games that it has played.
Red Wings’ goalkeeper also has the experience of being involved in Game 7 of a series. This happened during last season against Coyotes and he was successful in winning the game.
Mike Babcock has performed the duties of being the coach of the team on four occasions out of which he has been on the losing end two times and winning end two times.
"I guess until you do it the first time you just think you can do it", Babcock said. "That's where experience, I guess, comes in. Yet, you've got to do it again".
This will be the fourth time in the history of National Hockey League that a team comes back from a 3-0 deficit to win the series. Certainly, Red Wings is looking in good shape but it has to keep the morale level up and be confident.
Its approach of one game at a time has been brilliant and there is only one more game left before the team writes its name in history.
Red Wings has shown great calmness and composure and is only one game away from a historic win. This historic win will also give it a deserving spot in the Western Conference Finals.
