Detroit Red Wings fully focused on Game 7 and determined to clinch the Conference Finals spot
Detroit Red Wings has done all the hard work and now is only one win away from winning the semifinal series against San Jose Sharks and making its way into the Conference Finals.
Jimmy Howard, Red Wings’ goalkeeper, was once again brilliant in goal as he made some impressive saves. Some National Hockey League experts while talking about him said that Howard is surely among the hate list of many forwards.
On the other hand, after the Game 6 win there were celebrations everywhere. Red Wings’ captain and legendary player, Nicklas Lidstrom, came up with a good supporting role while Mike Modano also joined the part, playing for the team after a long time.
Modano’s return to the team could have been better as Red Wings successfully levelled the series on 3-3 after it was on the verge of elimination in Game 4.
After Red Wings won the game, the legends and greats of Red Wings went all the way down to the dressing rooms to congratulate the team and tell them to stay focused.
Vladimir Konstantinov was among the 1997 Stanley Cup winners for Red Wings, who paid the current Red Wings’ team a visit.
Detroit Red Wings has gotten better with the passage of time. It has the strength up front with the addition of Henrik Zetterberg who missed the first round after an injury.
However, he is performing a key role in the Red Wings’ team at the moment as he has scored two goals and bagged five assists against San Jose Sharks.
If we talk about history then there was a very big stretch during which neither of the teams in the National Hockey League was able to force a Game 7 after losing the first three games.
This time was from 1976 to 2010, 112 consecutive series, which finally ended when Philadelphia Flyers defeated Boston Bruins in the semifinals last year.
However, things aren’t still in Detroit’s favour as Hawks levelled the series against Canucks in the first round after being 3-0 down but lost the seventh game.
As to what Detroit needs to do for Game 7, Jimmy Howard said following Game 6, "Play, I mean, what can you do? You just go out there, play, give it your all and see what happens. That's all that anyone can ask from you, so that's what we've got to do --
just go play and leave it all out there".
Red Wings approached the series one game at a time after falling behind 3-0 in the series and has been rewarded for the hard work it put in.
It will definitely be high on confidence but with the game at Sharks’ home, combining the two things would make the final game of the series very entertaining and close for sure.
