Detroit Red Wings hope to avoid elimination facing Nashville Predators -NHL Playoffs Game 5 Preview
Detroit Red Wings have some of the most postseason experienced players in the nation but still, it is surprising to see them down and on the brink of elimination against Nashville Predators in the 2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Playoffs Western
Conference Quarterfinal series.
Nashville is currently leading 3-1 and by looking at how Predators have managed to control the series, making a comeback to topple this hot headed group will definitely require more than just a simple miracle.
One thing that keeps Detroit going is the belief that they will eventually counter back and take the series to a game 7 competition.
"We've got a lot of believe in here," Detroit forward, Henrik Zetterberg, said following a team practice session on Thursday at home. "We're a good team. We just have to keep playing like we did last game and eventually we're going to score. You can't let
it get to you."
It was certainly disappointing to see the team that had the best record at home during the 2011-2012 NHL regular season lose two straight at the Joe Louis Arena in front of an electrifying crowd consecutively. Now, as the series heads back to Nashville,
Predators just have everything working in their way at the moment.
For Nashville’s veteran goalie, Pekka Rinne, clearing out Detroit in a major way will just make their run for the Stanley Cup easier as they consider the Red Wings to be the biggest obstacle.
"They've been there and done that, and they have the experience and veteran players who have seen those kinds of situations and been through them," Rinne said. "We have to really be prepared for it and treat it as game number one or any other game. The team
that wants is more is going to get it."
What will help Detroit in the next game is going into a mode of desperation. Playing like that is always a sure way to get the under team beneath you but again in game 6, Detroit will still be on the brink of being ousted.
The exciting game 5 is scheduled for Friday, April 20th, at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, at 8:00 PM ET.
