Detroit Red Wings host the Chicago Blackhawks
Detroit Red Wings will be hosting the third of the six meeting against the Chicago Blackhawks. Both teams have won a game out of the previous two meetings with Detroit Red Wings winning the first one 3-2 and the Chicago Blackhawks winning the second match
4-1.
Detroit Red Wings are facing a few injury problems which cost them a match in the week otherwise they have emerged as strong despite the injury problems. On the other hand Chicago Blackhawks have had a decent run of their own and are in good shape ahead
of the match. The defending champions, Chicago Blackhawks have won four out of their last five matches.
Chicago Blackhawks will be looking to extend the winning run which they have managed to come up with recently. If this is not the case then come up with consecutive wins regularly. The Western Conference is heating up and if the Chicago Blackhawks come in
touching distance of the play-off position then they have a very good chance of qualifying. The reason for this is the fact that they have a very good record while playing in crunch matches.
"Moving ahead from where we're at right now is what we're really looking forward to (doing)," Coach Joel Quenneville said. "Getting out of that (place) where every day you're in or you're out or you're on that bubble."
The Chicago Blackhawks currently in seventh will be eyeing the fourth spot which is four points away occupied by the Nashville Predators but even a little slip up can cost them dearly as the eleventh place St. Louis Blues are just three points behind them.
Chicago Blackhawks have played 47 games so far out which they have won 25 games in regulation time and another 4 games in overtime scoring 54 points. On the other hand, Detroit Red Wings have played 47 games as well out which they have won 29 games in regulation
time, 6 games in overtime and scored 64 points and look strong to finish in the top spot in the league.
Detroit Red Wings after a miserable start to the season are up and running looking to top the league at the end of the regular season. Jiri Hudler after a slump is back shinning with his game after game brilliance scoring goals and coming up with assists
that push the Detroit Red Wings closer to the top of the table.
He has scored 11 points in the last 12 games he has played as ahead of the game. The last game against the St. Louis Blues saw him scoring 3 points making 3 assists.
"I thought when he came back to a team where he knew everybody, he wouldn't miss a step, but obviously he did," coach Mike Babcock said. "Now he's got it back and we just want him to keep getting better defensively as well, so that he can play well in all
situations. Then he sets up the winner (Thursday) in OT, so good for him."
Ahead of the match both teams are looking good and the match is expected to be a very tight and interesting encounter with both teams having a 50-50 chance of winning.
