Detroit Red Wings looking for special teams to win Game 7 against Chicago Blackhawks – NHL news
The Detroit Red Wings is a very seasoned and experienced team, one of the few in the National Hockey League (NHL) which makes it to the playoffs every single time without much of an effort.
Despite what their experience does for them in the regular season, the Red Wings are still working hard because everyone knows that the playoffs are a completely different story.
Special teams matter a lot in the playoffs and when top performers are unable to get the job done, the second and third lines have to make it happen, working miracles to get their franchise back on top. Fans witnessed it when Anaheim Ducks nearly took the
series from Detroit after bouncing back, but Detroit luckily managed to slide past by in Game 7.
Now, the Detroit Red Wings are in that same position, but with the Chicago Blackhawks instead of the Anaheim Ducks.
Chicago had been on the verge of elimination ever since they lost three out of four games following Game 4, but amazingly, the Blackhawks worked miracles for themselves and eventually made a comeback to now be preparing for a Game 7 competition with the
Red Wings.
Wednesday is a big day for both teams and Detroit definitely needs its big players like Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk to take centre stage and lead them to another victory and hopefully, go on to face the Los Angeles Kings in the 2013 NHL Western Conference
Playoff Finals.
“That's why they are who they are,” Detroit defenseman Niklas Kronwall said. “I wish I could tell you why. They bring it every night and in games like these is when they shine the most. They seem to find that comfort zone and just go out there and produce
and make things happen out of nowhere. They're two of the best players in the League, and we're really happy that they're on our club and not the other team's.”
Zetterberg currently has eight assists and three goals in the playoffs while Datsyuk holds on to three goals and six assists. Both players have the potential to take Chicago down through their coordination, but getting that to click is the key.
Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks will be going at it for one last time in the playoffs on Wednesday at 8 PM ET.
