Detroit Red Wings play host to Chicago Blackhawks in the fourth and final meeting between them
The first game of Monday will be played at the Joe Louis Arena as the Detroit Red Wings play host to the defending champions, Chicago Blackhawks.
This will be the fourth out of the six scheduled meetings between the two teams during the course of the season.
Out of the three games that have already taken place so far, Red Wings won the first game 3-2 while the Hawks won the second and third games.
The last game between the two teams saw the Hawks coming up with an impressive performance that saw them winning 4-1 on the 22nd of January 2011.
Red Wings is in a good position at the moment and are almost certain of making an appearance in the play-offs this time.
Hawks, on the other hand, has all the reasons to be worried. It is in the eighth and final play-off spot in the Western Conference and a win for them is important given the tight battle that they are caught up in for the final few play-off spots.
Hawks was looking good in the middle part of the season but they face problems once again as they are looking to keep the final position for the play-offs in hand.
Hawks had a tough game last time out as they were up against the Anaheim Ducks this past Saturday.
Hawks was in a comfortable position as they led 1-0 but they gave away two third period goals to lose the game 2-1 in the end.
This effectively meant that the Flames trial the Hawks by a single point in the standings and this season might turn gloomy if they don’t get on the winning roads.
Though Hawks has three games in hand over Flames, the main threat comes from the Stars who have as many games left as Hawks with two points separating the two teams.
Hawks has played 74 games during the season so far out of which they have won 40 games in regulation time and eight games in overtime to score a total of 88 points while Red Wings who are in the second position in the Western Conference, has played 75 games
in the season out of which they have won 44 games in regulation time and nine games in overtime to score 97 points.
Red Wings is in a comfortable position in the Central Division as well leading the Nashville Predators by five points.
They are expected to win the division but are out of the contention for winning the Conference as they trail the Vancouver Canucks by 12 points.
Red Wings is in good offensive form as they have got good amount of goals from the frontline players like Danny Cleary and Henrik Zetterberg.
On the other hand, Hawks are also looking good ahead of the game scoring goals with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews scoring goals as the Hawks look to defend their Stanley Cup crown.
